JOWA has received its first order for a reverse osmosis unit from working partner UMAR Cyprus and their client Donnelly Tanker Management for managed vessel MT Gunga.
The order is for a technical water JOWA RO with capacity 7 tons per day. This Reverse Osmosis unit takes in potable drinking water from a branch after the hydrophore tank and produces technical water (<10ppm TDS).
Unlike an evaporator type water maker, the unit can produce technical water regardless of the vessels position, speed or whether or not the main engine is running. With the JOWA RO 7T TW the operator has more flexibility. Technical water can be made at any time. The operator also avoids the cost associated with bunkering water for technical purposes.
The JOWA TW 7T RO is a compact unit that operates ‘stand-alone’ with a frequency-controlled pump pushing the water over the membrane at less than 16bar. Feed pump is not needed since the water in the fresh water distribution system is pressurized and the incoming salt content is already so low.
